R.A. 8495 - An Act Regulating the Practice of Mechanical Engineering

Section 23 of R.A. 8495 states that...An integrated organization of mechanical engineers shall be created and accredited by the Board of Mechanical Engineering and the Professional Regulation Commission. All persons whose names now appear in the roll of professional mechanical engineers, mechanical engineers, and certified plant mechanics under the custody of the Board and the Commission, or those who may hereafter be included therein upon registration and payment of the required fees shall automatically become members of the integrated and accredited organization of mechanical

Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) is the only PRC Accredited Professional Organization (APO) for Mechanical Engineers. PRC requires all persons practicing as Professional Mechanical Engineers (PME), Registered Mechanical Engineers (RME) and Certified Plant Mechanic (CPM) to present a Certificate Of Good Standing (COGS) from PSME on renewal of license. These persons must also earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit units as a requirement in renewing license. PSME helps its members not only in complying to this PRC requirement but even in the processing of PRC license.
